Friday Fun Day
Friday Jett does not have preschool, so Owen, Jett and I decided to go off for a fun day. We parked at dad's office and walked to the "Downtown Mall". It is several blocks long- an area of shopping and restaraunts that is blocked off from all traffic (like Santa Monic Promenade). Owen collects all the "cocorns" (acorns) that he can find and entertains himself by throwing it ahead and running after it. I don't mind since it gets us where we are going. At the end of the mall is the Charlottesville Children's Museum. It looks quite small but it ended up surprising us all with super fun inside! Jett loved the conveyor belt with balls that you could switch their direction. The highlight was the ocean room with this awesome ship. There was a special exhibit encouraging consevation with a wind turbine, bee hive, live earth worms, old fashioned general store and vegetable garden. It was well worth our money. There was one little hitch to the day that they had decorated the hall to the back exhibit as a "jungle theme". Jett is terrified of all snakes- even picture ones- and refused to walk down the hall. Owen had already darted ahead and as I went off to find him Jett had a melt down on the other end. Amazingly, I was able to convince him we could run past it with his eyes covered and he went for it.
The end of the morning was complete with gourmet cupcakes- almost too pretty to eat. Cupcakes for lunch is really the best perk of being a mom! The owner gave the boys extra candy animals to put on their cupcakes.
